If you’re a Washington State University fan, you can now raise a glass of local wine and support Cougar athletes at the same time!
Bledsoe Family Winery, founded by former WSU quarterback Drew Bledsoe, launched its Ol’ Crimson Legendary Red Blend on Tuesday in partnership with the Cougar Collective, WSU Athletics’ official NIL collective.
A portion of proceeds from each bottle sold will benefit the volunteer organization that works to attract, develop and retain top talent while building sustainable funding for Cougar Athletics.
The wine represents a personal connection for Bledsoe, who grew up in Walla Walla before attending Washington State University.
“It’s really a connection with my two hometowns: Walla Walla, where I grew up, and Wazzu, where I went to school. Two very, very special places to us,” Bledsoe said. “When you’re a Coug, you’re kind of always an underdog. We’ve always embraced that underdog mentality, but we still want to win. So raising money for the Cougar Collective is important for us.”
The winery’s CEO and Director of Winemaking Josh McDaniels crafted the blend entirely from estate-grown Walla Walla fruit. McDaniels has served as the winery’s winemaker for more than 10 years.
“The Ol’ Crimson Red is a blend from Walla Walla. We farm our own fruit and everything is made in-house,” Bledsoe said. “When we go to put together a blend like this one for Ol’ Crimson, we can really trust that it’s going to be great wine. Josh McDaniels is a winemaking rockstar.”
