SPOKANE, Wash. — The memorial service for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant killed while helping remove a hay bale from I-90 near the Four Lakes exit is set for Wednesday.
The service for Sgt. Kenneth Salas will begin at 1 p.m. at the Spokane Convention Center.
The Sheriff’s Office says the service is open to the public, but public seating is limited.
The public is encouraged to line the route Wednesday, Aug. 20, to honor Sgt. Salas during a memorial procession starting at approximately 11 a.m.
The procession will begin at the Dwight Merkel Sports Complex, 5701 N. Assembly Street, which will be closed to all, but law enforcement and first responders involved in the event. From there, the procession will travel:
South on Assembly StreetSoutheast on Northwest BoulevardSouth on Ash StreetEast on Broadway Avenue, passing the Spokane County CourthouseNorth on Monroe StreetEast on Boone Avenue to Division Street
After Division Street, the procession will enter a secure area that will be closed to the public.
Certain road closures will also be in place for the procession:
Southbound traffic on Division at Sharp will be closed. Traffic will be diverted west to Monroe or east towards Hamilton.
Southbound Washington from Boone to Spokane Falls Boulevard will be closed. Traffic will be diverted west towards Monroe.
Washington and North River Drive will be closed for several hours.
Washington and Spokane Falls Boulevard will be closed to northbound traffic until roughly 3 p.m.
Division and Riverside will be closed to northbound traffic until roughly 12:30 p.m.
Assembly between Wellesley and Francis will be closed from 930 to 1130am.
