The Idaho Department of Corrections is looking into a video circulating on social media that appears to show University of Idaho killer Bryan Kohberger in his jail cell.
The clip, approximately 15 seconds in length, appears to show Kohberger alone in his maximum-security jail cell. It’s unclear where the video originated from.
IDOC says it cannot confirm the veracity of the video, but if it’s leaked from its security footage, it’s a clear violation of IDOC policies. IDOC also warns of falling for fake or AI videos.
According to IDOC, it advised its employees twice last month of policies relating to professionalism and social media.
The department says videotaping and sharing security footage is prohibited, and it will review legal options including criminal prosecution.
Kohberger is serving four life sentences for killing Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin in November 2022.
