SPOKANE, Wash. — Mark Peterson and the 4 News Now Extreme Team are putting their magic to work and bringing new life to a local U.S. Navy Veteran’s home.
This week, workers with Band Construction and the 4 News Now Extreme Team replaced siding on U.S. Navy Veteran John Spurgin’s home in North Spokane.
The work was the continuation of a project that began in November, after Spurgin’s friend nominated him for a Veteran’s Day Extreme Team project.
Initially, Spurgin said he only expected crews to handle minor repairs around his house, but the team surprised him by committing to re-siding the entire home.
Construction crews have also replaced Spurgin’s roof and plan to add a fresh coat of paint to complete the renovation.
“All of this is totally changed. The whole house. We’ve had neighbors pulling into the driveway and going, ‘Ah! it looks so much better,'” Spurgin said.
Spurgin said he looks forward to re-seeding his lawn to complement the home’s new exterior. He also plans to renovate the backyard so his grandchildren can have a place to play.
