SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown ordered all flags at city buildings to be lowered to half-staff to remember Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Kenneth Salas.
Sgt. Salas was killed in the line of duty after being struck by a motorcycle while helping a truck remove hay from I-90 eastbound near the Four Lakes exit.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Sergeant Salas, who was killed while serving our community. The City of Spokane extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office,” Mayor Brown said.
Flags will stay lowered at all city facilities through Monday.
The city encourages anyone with a flag outside their home or business to join in this remembrance.
