SPOKANE, Wash. — UPDATED 11:19 p.m., August 7 – Police arrested the man accused of stabbing two people near Spokane City Hall on Thursday night.
Around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of three people fighting near City Hall.
As officers arrived, they found two victims who had been stabbed.
SPD said the suspect was found on the Post Street Bridge threatening suicide.
For four hours, police and multiple crisis negotiator teams attempted to coax the suspect off the Post Street Bridge.
Police arrested the suspect without incident around 10:15 p.m.
SPD said one victim died from their injuries at a local hospital. The other victim is hospitalized in stable condition.
SPD said the case is still an active investigation. Anyone with video of the incident who has not already been in touch with police should call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.

Around 6:30 p.m., SPD responded to a reported ‘altercation’ near Spokane Falls Boulevard and Lincoln Street.
SPD said two people were stabbed and transported to the hospital. One victim sustained serious injuries.
As police arrived, the stabbing suspect made their way to the Post Street Bridge.
As of 9:45 p.m., SPD said officers and crisis negotiation teams are still trying to coax the suspect off the bridge.
Post Street is closed from Broadway to City Hall. Traffic can travel southbound on Monroe from Kendall Yards and River Park Square, but northbound traffic is blocked.

Police are responding to a reported stabbing near Spokane City Hall on Thursday evening, according to Spokane Police Department.
Police are telling people to avoid the area.
Police have shut down the Monroe Street Bridge at Summit Parkway and Post Street at Spokane Falls Boulevard.
SPD said the stabbing happened on the stairs between Spokane City Hall and the Numerica Skate Ribbon.
Around 7 p.m., SPD said officers were dealing with a stabbing suspect on the Post Street Bridge, but did not provide any further details.
A 4 News Now crew at the scene witnessed a person sitting on the railing of the Post Street Bridge.
Water rescue crews were in the river below.
