SPOKANE, Wash. — Nuestras Raíces Centro Comunitario (NRCC) is hosting a new event this weekend following the decision to cancel the 5th annual Tacos y Tequila Festival.
Tacos y Tequila was originally scheduled to take place in downtown Spokane on August 23 and 24. It was cancelled at the end of last month due to “increasing anti-immigrant rhetoric that raised concerns about the safety and inclusivity” of the event.
This weekend, NRCC and No-Li Brewhouse will be hosting the Nuestra Raíces Community Fiesta from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday at No-Li Brewhouse Bier Hall.
“We were heartbroken to cancel Tacos y Tequila, but this Community Fiesta is a beautiful example of Spokane coming together in solidarity,” said the team at Nuestras Raíces. “We invite everyone to join us, celebrate our cultura, and stand with us during this crucial time.”
The Fiesta will celebrate Hispanic culture while raising funds for the Nuestra Raíces Capital Campaign. For every Tacos y Tequila Mexican lager purchased at the event, No-Li will donate proceeds to the campaign.
Everyone 18 and older is invited to join the festivities.
