SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Fire says a fire that broke out in People’s Park this morning is suspicious.
SFD says firefighters responded at 10:17 a.m. following reports of a grass fire near the parking lot.
Engine 3 reported seeing a 100-by-100-foot area of grass and shrubs actively burning.
Additional resources, including WA Department of Natural Resources, brought the fire under control within 20 minutes.
This fire is being investigated as suspicious.
SFD says that witnesses told them they saw a person of interest in the area.
In a press release, they describe the person as a white male, approximately in his mid-60s to mid-70s, driving an orange sedan—possibly a KIA.
