GREENACRES, Wash. — Spokane County Fire District 8 was called to put out a slash pile of weeds that burned out of control Tuesday morning.
The fire was in an area full of brush and trees on East 32nd Avenue near South Chapman Road around 10:30 a.m.
It started downhill on the backside of the property, but was knocked down before it could advance too far uphill.
Fire crews were able to stop the spread of the fire and contain it within minutes.
One tree was torched, and the fire burned about three quarters of an acre.
Hand crews stayed out a little longer to clean up what had burned, and monitor for hot spots.
