STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — A wildfire burning in Stevens County has grown and prompted more firefighters to be assigned to it.
The Lake Spokane Fire is burning along the Spokane River west of Tum Tum.
The fire has grown to about 2,500 acres, or 4 square miles and is 22% contained.
According to incident command, more firefighters have been assigned to the Lake Spokane Fire from 335 to 389.
Crews adds Thursday’s controlled burn was successful and helped firefighters establish more fire lines.
On Friday, crews will continue to establish and strengthen lines while focusing on areas where winds are forecasted to increase.
