POST FALLS, Idaho — The City of Post Falls Water Division (PFWD) is requesting residents conserve water while crews complete unplanned maintenance on Well 8, which has temporarily reduced the municipal water system’s pumping capacity.
According to the PFWD the water system can handle peak demand with one well offline, any additional equipment failure could force stricter water use measures.
The most critical conservation timeframe is between 4:00 and 9:00 AM, when remaining wells work hardest to meet demand and refill reservoirs.
PFWD said residents should follow the existing irrigation schedule:
Odd-numbered addresses water on Mondays, Wednesdays and FridaysEven-numbered addresses irrigate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and SaturdaysAll watering should avoid 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, as required by City Code 13.12.030.
Additional conservation measures include shorter showers, turning off water while brushing teeth, running full loads in dishwashers and washing machines, and fixing household leaks, according to the PFWD.
City staff are working to restore Well 8 as quickly as possible and will provide updates once it returns to service.
