PORT ANGELES, Wash. — A cougar bit a four-year-old child who was walking with their family on a popular trail in Olympic National Park on Sunday, according to the National Park Service.
Around 3:15 p.m. on July 20, park rangers responded to a call about a mountain lion that bit a child near the Victoria Overlook area on Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park.
Paramedics used a LifeFlight to transfer the injured child to a Seattle hospital.
Rangers searched for and found the cougar after the incident, but NPS did not say if any action was taken with the cougar.
NPS said there is no current threat to the public.
