MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. — People of all ages and abilities took to the water Saturday for the annual Ski Fest in Medical Lake.
This event was created to give people with disabilities the opportunity to try water skiing, boating and swimming.
“It’s just like the family atmosphere,” said longtime event volunteer Barb Stubing. “This isn’t just for one person or one kind of person. It’s for a whole family. We try to encourage family participation, whether it’s skiing or tubing with your family or just having a picnic at the lake.”
This year’s Ski Fest had 25 participants, many of whom come back year after year. Some even travel from out of state.
The event had special equipment for those with disabilities to use and volunteers followed boats in jet skis to make sure everything went safely.
