Update, 5:04 p.m. Spokane Police says the woman who was hit by a suspected impaired teen driver on the South Hill Wednesday morning has died.
Spokane Police say the Prosecutor’s Office is working on amending the charges the 17-year-old faces. It is not known what those new charges will be at this time.

SPOKANE, Wash. — A 17-year-old was arrested for hitting a woman with his SUV on Spokane’s South Hill early Wednesday morning.
According to Spokane Police, the woman was jogging with her friend near 49th and Perry just after 5:30 a.m.
The teen, who SPD believes was under the influence, hit the woman and then fled the scene on foot.
The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Officers searched the area for the 17-year-old and found him near Highway 195 and Eagle Ridge. Police detained the teen, who was not wearing any shoes.
Investigators say speed and impairment were factors in the crash.
The 17-year-old was arrested for vehicular assault, felony hit and run and DUI charges.
The teen passenger of the vehicle was treated for minor injuries.
