CHENEY, Wash.– Cheney families can grab their pool noodles and dive into some fun at the new Aquatic Center opening to the public Monday.
The community pool project involved multiple phases of development, including community feedback sessions, design and architectural planning.
“After a couple of years of getting community feedback and design and architecture and a year of construction, we’re a day away from finally reopening the pool again,” said Dan Curley, project manager for the aquatic center.
The new facility includes several recreational features designed to appeal to visitors of all ages. The center boasts a water slide and lazy river, which early visitors already began enjoying during the soft opening.
“We definitely like the slide and the lazy river. It’s real fun,” said visitors Waverly and Mackenzie during Sunday’s preview event.
Additional amenities include a climbing wall, zipline and plenty of poolside seating areas.
Visitors attending the grand opening Monday are encouraged to plan for additional travel time and consider alternative parking options due to the ongoing Cedar Street construction project.
The Aquatic Center is located at 115 N. 8th Street in Cheney.
