ASOTIN COUNTY, Wash. — A fire near the landfill in Asotin County prompted an emergency response from multiple fire departments Tuesday, temporarily closing nearby roads and shutting down landfill operations.
Asotin County Emergency Management said road closures at Evans Road and 6th Avenue/Peola Road have since been lifted, but firefighting efforts are still underway. The landfill remains closed, and officials are urging the public to avoid the area unless absolutely necessary.
Emergency vehicles and crews are still active, and drivers in the area are asked to proceed with caution.
Additional updates will be provided by Asotin County Emergency Management.
This is a developing story.
