SPOKANE, Wash. — Firefighters are continuing to fight the Aubrey White Fire and people in the area may see more smoke despite the progress made.
According to fire crews, firefighters are back burning the area in order to keep the fire under control. The controlled burn helps establish lines for containment and reduces potential fuel.
The Aubrey White Fire broke out Sunday afternoon quickly prompting emergency evacuations in Riverside State Park and some of the surrounding areas.
Department of Natural Resources said forward progress was stopped on the fire at about 40 acres.
People in the area are still advised to be ready to leave at a moment’s notice. The latest evacuation orders can be HERE.
