COLBERT, Wash. — A man was hit and killed by an oncoming vehicle when he ran a stop sign in Colbert Sunday.
According to Washington State Patrol, 92-year-old Curtis Chumbley was driving east on Colbert Road toward Highway 2 around 4:15 p.m.
WSP says Chumbley did not stop at a stop sign and drove into the intersection. He was hit by a southbound vehicle and both ended up in the median.
Chumbley died at the scene. Two people in the other vehicle, a 28-year-old man and 26-year-old woman, were taken to an area hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
Highway 2 was closed for several hours for the investigation.
