COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Memorial services for two firefighters killed in an ambush by a gunman Sunday have been set in Coeur d’Alene for next week.
Coeur d’Alene Fire Battalion Chief John Morrison, Jr. (IAFF 7th District Local 710) and Kootenai County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Frank Harwood (IAFF 7th District Local 2856) were shot and killed by a gunman suspected of intentionally setting a fire on Canfield Mountain in Idaho to lure first responders to him on June 29, 2025.
The motive behind the shooting has not been released by law enforcement in North Idaho.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, July 10 for Battalion Chief Morrison, and one will be held on July 11 for Battalion Chief Harwood.
Both memorial services will be held at the Hagadone Event Center at 900 S. Floating Green Dr., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83814.
The families have requested the memorials be limited to close family, friends and uniform personnel only.
