SPOKANE, Wash. — One person was hospitalized early Tuesday after a high-speed crash on Division Street that sent a vehicle with four people across the median and into flames.
The collision occurred at 12:00 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 395 near Country Homes Boulevard, according to Washington State Patrol (WSP).
WSP said the vehicle was traveling over 100 miles per hour when the driver lost control around a corner. The car crossed the concrete median, struck a Department of Transportation sign and came to rest in the southbound lanes before catching fire.
One passenger, 22-year-old Alexis L. Niggemeyer of Deer Park, was injured and transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center. Another passenger, 19-year-old Kenzell J. McIntyre of Spokane, was not injured.
The driver fled the scene after the crash and has not been located by authorities. A fourth passenger also has not been identified, and their condition remains unknown.
Authorities have not determined whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
