SPOKANE, Wash.– This June was the driest in 10 years and one of the driest on record in Spokane and eastern Washington.
0.13″ of rain this month ranks fourth driest since records began in 1881. According to the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Spokane, this is also the 11th driest total combined rain for April-May-June in the record.
Several communities had their all-time driest June in central and eastern Washington. This year surpassed records from as early as the 1880s to as late as the 1950s.
Drought is forecast to expand across the Inland Northwest this summer. Fire officials continue to predict an active fire season in the region.
