SEATTLE, Wash. — “Big Dumper” is getting recognition for his historic play at the plate and behind the dish.
Cal Raleigh was named the American League Player of the Week hitting .417 with 5 homeruns and 12 RBI in six games against the Red Sox and Cubs.
Raleigh is continuing a historic tear which saw him surpass Johnny Bench with the most homeruns by a catcher before the All-Start break.
This is a second time this year Raleigh has received the honor.
Seattle is currently five games back of Houston for the AL West and in the third Wildcard spot tied with Cleveland.
Raleigh and the Mariners are in Minnesota taking on the Twins. First pitch is at 4:40 p.m. PST.
