A fallen firefighter from the Inland Northwest will be honored alongside other fallen firefighters from around Washington in Olympia on Sunday.
Battalion Chief Ron Cato of Pend Oreille County Fire District #2 will be honored on June 22 as part of the annual Washington State Fallen Firefighter’s Memorial Service, hosted by the Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The service will include a procession, bell ceremony, plaque presentation to the families and embroidered ribbons held on the memorial pike pole.
“While their loss is profound, our Brothers and Sisters will forever be in our hearts,” reads the event announcement.
The service will also honor the following fallen firefighters:
Lieutenant Raymond Proper Jr. of the Tacoma Fire Department
Deputy Fire Marshal Brian Annis-Levings of Central Pierce Fire and Rescue
Engineer/Paramedic Ryan Pleasants of the Walla Walla Fire Department
Lieutenant Leslee Smtih of North Whatcom Fire and Rescue
Deputy Fire Marshal Phil Ferrell of the Tacoma Fire Department
Captain Dean Warren of South County Fire
Pilot James Maxwell, Wildland Fire Contractor
The service will be held at the state capitol (416 Sid Snyder Avenue) at 1 p.m. It will also be lived streamed HERE.
