SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Falls Community College President (SFCC) Dr. Kimberlee Messina announced she was resigning Tuesday to take the position of Chancellor of City College of San Francisco.
Dr. Messina was appointed President at SFCC in 2019, navigating the campus through the COVID-19 epidemic and advancing the school’s higher education objectives.
“City College of San Francisco will be in good hands with Dr. Messina,” said Spokane Colleges Chancellor Dr. Kevin Brockbank. “During her tenure, President Messina has worked through numerous challenges and created new opportunities for the faculty, staff, and students of SFCC. Let me be one of the first to publicly congratulate her on this amazing opportunity and thank her for all she has given to SFCC over the past six years.”
SFCC Vice President of Student Affairs, Patrick McEachern, will serve as interim President as the school spends the next year searching for Dr. Messina’s successor.
“Dr. Messina will be greatly missed, and I could not be happier for her as she steps into her next chapter,” said McEachern. “Under her leadership, our college has made remarkable progress. Carrying this momentum forward while we search for our next permanent president is not a responsibility I take lightly, and I am truly honored to have the opportunity to serve as Interim President.”
McEachern will be excluded from the permanent President position because of his service as interim President.
