OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington State officials are reminding residents about legal fireworks use ahead of July 4th celebrations.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office announced specific dates and times for legal fireworks sales and use:
June 28: Sales and discharge 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.
June 29-July 3: Sales and discharge 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
July 4: Sales 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., discharge 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. midnight
July 5: Sales 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., discharge 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Local jurisdictions may impose additional restrictions or bans.
“Fireworks can cause injuries and deaths, so they should be handled with care,” state fire officials warn.
Safety precautions include: never relight malfunctioning fireworks, keep water nearby, designate a sober adult supervisor, and use fireworks only in open areas away from buildings and dry vegetation.
