🎬 “How to Train Your Dragon” (PG)
The animated classic gets the live-action treatment!
Mason Thames (The Black Phone) stars as Hiccup, the underdog son of a Viking chief in a world where dragons are the enemy. Gerard Butler returns as Hiccup’s dad (just like in the original), with Nick Frost as the village blacksmith and Nico Parker (The Last of Us) as Astrid.
My take: My 4-year-old son has seen the OG How to Train Your Dragon and really liked it—but I’m not so sure he’s ready for the live-action version just yet. It looks a bit intense for little ones, so we might wait until it hits streaming to give it a try.
💋 “Materialists” (R)
Rom-com lovers, this one’s for you.
Dakota Johnson plays a high-end matchmaker who’s determined to marry rich—until she runs into her working-class ex (Chris Evans) and meets a wealthy dream guy (Pedro Pascal) all in the same night. Let the love triangle begin!
My take: This is right up my alley—I love all three of the major players, and it looks like the perfect mix of smart, stylish, and steamy. Definitely planning a girls’ night out for this one.
