WENATCHEE, Wash. — Central Washington attorneys and community members are commissioning a task force to re-evaluate the laws surrounding AMBER Alerts.
On Monday, 9-year-old Paityn Decker, 8-year-old Evelyn Decker, and 5-year-old Olivia Decker were found dead near the Rock Island Campground west of Leavenworth. The girls went missing on Friday following a scheduled visitation with their father.
The father of the three girls, 32-year-old Travis Decker, is currently wanted for their murder and kidnapping.
The girls were first reported missing by their mother on Friday evening, but an AMBER Alert was not issued at that time. Instead, a Missing Persons Alert was issued for the three sisters.

Now, the Decker family’s lawyer says this newly-formed task force will take a closer look at the laws surrounding AMBER Alerts as well as mental health resources available for veterans in Central Washington.
Travis Decker is former military. Court documents show there were several safety concerns surrounding Decker years before this incident.
Funding for veterans is on the chopping block at both the state and federal levels.
Rural Central Washington has a higher disparity of resources than more populous areas of the state, despite the higher number of veterans living in Central Washington.
For example, the annual budget for Central Washington is $260,000, and 24,509 veterans live there, compared to Yakima’s veteran population of 10,455, and annual budget of $904,432, according to Central Washington Veterans Counseling, LLC.
This task force will be working on a website and social media accounts in the coming days. For more information on how you can get involved, email help@actionfordeckergirls.org
Decker is still wanted by law enforcement and has not yet been located. If you believe you have seen Decker, call the Chelan County tip line at 509-667-6845 or submit your tip online here.
