Authorities believe the man accused of kidnapping and murdering his three young daughters could be travelling along the Pacific Crest Trail.
According to the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office, 32-year-old Travis Decker is believed to possibly be travelling through remote areas of Washington along the PCT.
The Pacific Crest Trail is a 2,600 mile hiking trail that runs through California, Oregon and Washington.
On Thursday morning, the U.S. Forest Service shut down a large area of the Enchantments national park for the search.
Decker, who is former military, is said to have extensive wilderness knowledge and the ability to survive for months on his own in the forest.
Chelan County Sheriff’s Office asked anyone with remote cabins, sheds or outbuildings throughout Chelan, Kittitas, King, Snohomish and Okanogan Counties to lock all doors, leave blinds open and turn outside lights on.
Decker is accused of kidnapping and murdering his three daughters, Paityn, Evelyn and Olivia, ages 9, 8 and 5, after failing to return them to their mother after a scheduled visitation.
Decker is 5 feet 8 inches tall, 190 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He has multiple recognizable tattoos on his arms and torso.
