SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Windy conditions in Spokane County on Saturday mean an extreme risk for wildfires.
Spokane County Fire District 3 says burning on windy days can be extremely dangerous. Even a small, controlled burn can get out of hand if a gust carries embers into dry grass or forestland.
SCFD 3 has the following tips for how you can prevent fires:
Do not burn debris when winds are highFollow local burn bans and fire guidelinesHave a fire extinguisher and water on hand if burningCreate defensible space around your property.
SCFD 3 advises against burning on Saturday due to the windy and dry weather.
