COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Dozens of protesters gathered outside Representative Russ Fulcher’s office in Coeur d’Alene today to voice their frustrations with his voting record.
Protesters say Fulcher’s support of bills don’t represent North Idahoans. That includes the Trump administration’s “big beautiful bill.”
“Fulcher has not stood up for his constituents at all,” said protester Ethel Steinmetz-Marmont. “There are multiple ways that he’s betrayed the people of Idaho.”
The protesters oppose Fulcher’s voting record on bills including a Trump administration bill that makes changes to Medicaid and could cause millions to lose coverage.
“That big, ugly bill would take away Medicaid away from people who are really in need and like most people in Idaho, I’m furious about it,” Steinmetz-Marmont said.
Protester Loree Peery said healthcare access is important.
“I know that it costs a lot more for everybody if people don’t have access to health care because they tend to rely on the emergency rooms for their care. They wait until they are very sick,” Peery said.
Others protested potential cuts to education and Head Start programs, SNAP benefits and protecting public lands.
Rain didn’t stop the protesters from sending a message to Rep. Fulcher that he isn’t representing their interests.
Many protesters believe Fulcher acts in the interest of the ultra-rich and not his constituents.
“I think Russ Fulcher needs to see his constituents are not happy with him. Honestly, I don’t feel represented by Russ Fulcher,” Peery said.
