SPOKANE, Wash – The Gonzaga men’s basketball team got a boost in the rotation Wednesday, landing a key transfer from the portal.
Tyon Grant-Foster announced on Instagram that he’s committed to the Zags.
The 6’7″ wing was the WAC player of the year in 2024. He made the all-conference first team this season as well, despite missing the last five games of the season.
The Kansas City native played two seasons for the Lopes.
On Instagram Wednesday, Grant-Foster posted a picture of himself in a Zags uniform with the word “Signed.”
Under the picture, he wrote “Go Zags.”
Sports Illustrated reports that he needs to get a waiver of eligibility from the NCAA because this would be his seventh year of college basketball.
ESPN says he started his career with two years at a community college, then transferred Kansas. He then transferred to DePaul.
During his season opener with DePaul, he collapsed at halftime and had to be resuscitated.
He spent time at the Mayo Clinic, had heart surgery and was cleared to play.
In his last season at GCU, he averaged 14.8 points per game, along with 5.9 rebounds.
He turned 25 in March.
This is the third transfer the Zags have secured this off-season.
