SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane County Medical Examiner has identified the two people killed in suspected self-defense shooting and fatal stabbing.
According to the Spokane Police Department, 61-year-old David McFarland was suspected of stabbing a woman and killing a man at the Hart Terrace Apartments in east central Spokane Tuesday.
The man stabbed has been identified as 60-year-old Kevin Christensen. The Spokane County Medical Examiner determined he died of stab wounds to the neck and abdomen.
After the stabbing, Spokane police say McFarland charged at another man walking his dog in the area. That man had a firearm and shot and killed McFarland.
The Medical Examiner says McFarland died of a gunshot wound to the torso.
Spokane police say the dog walker shot McFarland in self-defense.
