LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. — One person was arrested for leading police of a high-speed chase in a stolen car Friday evening.
According to the Liberty Lake Police Department, officers responded to reports of a stolen vehicle seen near East Appleway Avenue and East Hawkstone Loop around 5:40 p.m.
Police found the vehicle near East Appleway and North Molter Road and tried to stop it. The driver, later identified as Dylan Faught, sped up to try and get away.
Officers initially followed Faught but stopped because he was driving too erratically in a busy area.
Faught was later seen near the state line as he exited Interstate 90. Police say he fled into the area of Gateway Park after officers tried to stop him a second time.
Faught then parked the car and tried to run from officers on foot. Police chased Faught along the Spokane River until Faught got into the water and waded downstream where he was surrounded.
Officers then spent two hours trying to get Faught to comply and get out of the thick brush. Eventually, chemical agents were used and Faught crawled through the bush.
Faught was arrested for multiple charges, including possessing a stolen vehicle, attempting to elude law enforcement, obstructing a law enforcement officers and local warrants.
