SPOKANE, Wash — The 87th annual Spokane Lilac Festival kicked off Saturday with the Junior Lilac Parade.
Over 50 different middle school marching bands participated in this year’s parade. The parade is the only middle school marching band competition in the region.
The parade happened Saturday morning in downtown Spokane. This year’s festival theme is “To Spokane, With Love.”
This year’s grand sweepstakes award went to Mountainside Middle School, who will now appear in the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade on Saturday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. in downtown Spokane.
