SPOKANE, Wash. — Over 35,000 runners participating in this year’s Bloomsday race, brings 35,000 different stories to the city of Spokane.
For former Seattle Seahawk Justin Britt, his first Bloomsday comes with a message for anyone that needs to listen.
“I’ve been at the highest of highs and probably at the lowest of my lows,” said Britt. “I know that whatever I was experiencing was going to be temporary.”
Britt retired from the NFL in 2023 after spending the majority of his time as an offensive lineman for the Seattle Seahawks. It was something he says he had to do for his health after struggling with depression and anxiety.
To fulfill the competitive nature he craved as a professional athlete – Britt turned to a new sport: running. And just a few years into the new gig, he’s already found the joy in sharing his message while racing at a high level.
“Like race day, how can you beat it? You get to travel around, experience new cities, new races… if you’re lucky you can leave your mark,” said Britt.
