SPOKANE, Wash. — The Central Valley School district is the latest school in the state to complain about the state of Washington’s transgender athlete policy.
On Monday night, the CVSD Board met and discussed three different versions of a letter intended for the Departments of Education and Justice.
The letters raise concerns over conflicting federal and state laws over transgender athletes’ participation in school sports.
They ask the federal government to investigate Washington’s Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA).
It’s a similar move to the Mead School District’s federal investigation request in March.
No action was taken at Monday night’s meeting. The Board will reconvene at a future date.
