SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Greenacres Middle School in Spokane Valley is getting a new entrance to improve school safety.
The Central Valley School District is adding an extra set of doors to create a more controlled entry process.
“To add more visibility to our secretaries and us administrators to see who’s coming in and out of our building,” said Quinn Lesage, Principal of Greenacres Middle School.
The $1.2 million project is funded through the district’s 2024 levy.
Central Valley School District Superintendent Dr. John Parker emphasized the importance of safety.
“If they’re not safe, my kids aren’t safe. Then I have to answer to other people as well as to answer to them,” Dr. Parker said.
Construction at Greenacres has already begun, with completion expected in August.
Four other schools in the Central Valley School District will also have their entrances renovated as part of this security project.
