MEAD, Wash. — The Spokane County Medical Examiner says a man died of multiple gunshot wounds during a suspected burglary in Mead Monday.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, 49-year-old William Krieg and another man were at near Grace Street and North Sheridan Street around 1 a.m.
Two women confronted the two men believing they were burgling a neighbor.
SCSO says one of the men ran and Krieg struck one of the women, 47-year-old Cheyanne Humphrey, in the head with a rock.
During the confrontation, deputies say Humphrey shot and killed Krieg. Deputies say Humphrey is a felon and prohibited from having a firearm and was arrested.
