SPOKANE, Wash — An overnight house fire on Spokane’s South Hill killed one woman and two dogs.
Spokane firefighters responded to the home on West 27th Avenue near Wall Street Wednesday just before 1 a.m.
When fire crews arrived, they could see flames coming from the home’s first floor, and the fire threatened other homes in the area.
It took crews about an hour to knock down the fire, and no other homes were damaged.
Firefighters say a hoarding situation at the home made the fire more difficult to fight.
The woman and two dogs were pulled from the home 10 minutes after fire crews arrived on the scene. They were declared dead at the scene.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The name of the woman will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner.
