SPOKANE, Wash. — Athletes from Native tribes across the country have gathered in Spokane to square off on the basketball court.
This weekend, hundreds of athletes are in Spokane for the sixth annual Battle of the Nations Basketball tournament at Spokane Tribe Casino.
64 teams will compete in the Men’s Tournament.
New this year is the Women’s Tournament, featuring 32 teams.
Games will be double-elimination and a champion will be crowned on Sunday.
4 News Now asked Jerry Ford, founder of the tournament, his favorite part of the weekend.
“It’s how all the nations come together like this, and we can bring them right here on our ancestral lands and compete in basketball,” he said.
