CHENEY, Wash. — A man was sentenced to ten years in prison for sexually abusing a child in Idaho and Washington, according to Cheney Police Department.
In November 2023, police arrested 75-year-old Patrick C. Rast in his hotel room at Northern Quest Resort and Casino on child molestation charges.
He was booked into the Spokane County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
While in custody, detectives learned Rast abused the victim when they were in 4th grade in 2017 up until 2023, when the victim disclosed the abuse.
Detectives also learned Rast had abused the same victim in Idaho, prompting charges to be filed by the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office.
On February 3, 2025, Rast pleaded guilty to both the Washington state and Idaho cases against him.
On April 2, a judge sentenced Rast to 10 years to life in prison with life-time probation, mandatory lifetime sex offender registration and a lifetime no-contact order with the victim and their family.
