SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane is home to a thriving restaurant scene, beautiful Riverfront Park, and a variety of sports and music events—and a new attraction may soon be added to the list.
Since 2021, the City of Spokane has been planning to build a zip line downtown.
As of now, the zip line would run from the Place of Truths Plaza above Spokane Falls, across from the Spokane Central Library, underneath the Monroe Street Bridge and land in Redband Park in Peaceful Valley.
Mica Moon Zip Tours would build the attraction.
The project is currently undergoing the permit process.
The City of Spokane said the zip line needs a crucial shoreline conditional use/variance permit to continue development.
A shoreline conditional permit is needed before a building permit can be secured.
The permit was applied for on December 12, but the decision on the permit won’t be made for another few months.
The city said it will have a hearing on the permit sometime in May, but that the Department of Ecology has the final say on whether or not it is approved.
If the project gets approved in the next few months, the city said construction could begin in the late spring or early summer.
