PONDERAY, Idaho — Firefighters from north Idaho are lending a helping hand down south this month.
On Thursday, a fire crew from Northside Fire District in Ponderay arrived in Texas as part of a wildland assignment task force.
The task force is primarily comprised of resources and personnel from Idaho Department of Lands and will spend at least 14 days in Wichita Falls, Texas.
NSFD contributed firefighters and a “Type 6” Brush Truck to the task force.
The crews will work to control and fight anticipated increased fire activity and red flag conditions in the area.
“This joint deployment is a testament to the cooperation and ever-growing relationship between the two agencies on both the leadership and the crew levels,” said Northside Fire District in a Facebook post.
NSFD said that during the deployment it will remain fully staffed and there will be no reduction to service in Idaho.
“These deployment opportunities continue to give our firefighters invaluable experience and also generate much-needed revenue that is used to augment our limited budget,” NSFD said.
