SPOKANE, Wash. — Customers of a Spokane eyewear shop are reporting lost money and glasses.
Stahl Optical has been operating in Spokane since 1969. After the company went from a brick-and-mortar to mobile ordering, some customers say they are unable to get in contact with the store, leaving them with no idea where their paid orders are.
“Every time you email them, they send out an email that says ‘Call this number.’ You call that number, the voicemail box says ‘Call this number.’ That number doesn’t have a voicemail,” said Teresa, who has been a customer with Stahl Optical for the past 15 years.
In June of last year, Teresa bought a nearly $1,000 pair of glasses from Stahl. By January, the lens chipped. She brought them in to get fixed and hasn’t seen the pair of glasses since.
“I just want them back,” Teresa said. “I don’t care if they’re still broken. I’ll just go somewhere else and get them fixed.”
Teresa has since filed a complaint with the Washington Attorney Generals Office.
Stahl Optical says it has the glasses and plans to deliver them soon.
When asked about customers claims to not have received orders or received any calls, business owners Sean and Debi Camarda sent a statement:
To our clients from over the years, we truly apologize for the inconvenience that’s been forced on you. You will hear from us. We are trying our best & working on getting everybody what they are owed. Without money coming in processing has been slowed but we will get to you! We apologetically ask for understanding & patience.SincerelyA very sad Stahl Optical
Owner Sean Camarda says the attempt to go mobile hasn’t paid off. The business has filed for bankruptcy and will be shutting it down. The owners will continue to work until all the orders are fulfilled.
