MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Parents of students at Groff Elementary are having to keep their kids home during the school’s week-long closure.
Groff Elementary announced on Friday the school would be closed from March 3 through March 7, due to an electrical issue.
The school told 4 News Now several people had been shocked, but did not provide any details.
Chromebooks for remote learning and school lunches are being provided for pick-up during the temporary closure.
The school has only been open since 2021 and had a similar electrical-related closure last April.
School officials said they plan to reopen on Monday, but only if the necessary repairs are properly made.
“We are truly planning on being back next Monday, but like with anything you go through, we want to make sure that we do it right,” said Ryan Shannon of Moses Lake School District.
The school said it will stay in touch with parents about the progress and send updates about any changes of plan.
