RICHLAND, Wash. — A Washington State Patrol trooper arrested for a fatal crash over the weekend has been placed on administrative leave.
According to the Richland Police Department, Trooper Sarah Clasen was off duty in her personal vehicle when she was involved in a crash with a motorcycle rider on Highway 240 Saturday night.
The rider, Jhoser Sanchez, was taken to the hospital where he later died.
35-year-old Clasen was suspected of being under the influence, arrested for vehicular homicide, and booked into the Benton County Jail.
WSP says Clasen has been with the department for 14 years and works out of the Yakima field office.
Richland Police is conducting the investigation.
