CHENEY, Wash. — An Air Force veteran in Cheney is bringing his community big smiles in the snow this winter.
Jacob Histo served in the Air Force for a decade, but was left struggling to find a mission in life after leaving the armed services.
But once the snow fell in Cheney, Histo had a creative idea.
“It actually came to me in a dream,” he said.
Histo constructed multiple, snow sculptures in his front yard, one even featuring the popular Peanuts cartoon character, Snoopy.
He used food coloring to bring his imagination to life.
“It’s a source of joy for me after the military. It’s something fun. It’s relaxing. I just put headphones in and get some snow pants and a good jacket and it’s just peaceful,” Histo said.
Many of his neighbors have stopped to tell them how much they enjoy how his snow sculptures brighten their community.
“Honestly, it gives me a really great sense of purpose. I know that’s a cheesy saying, but I went through a lot of different things within the military during my ten years of service, and this honestly brings me a lot of joy and satisfaction. Seeing that it makes a lot of people happy within my community, that’s just a sense of belonging,” Histo said.
