DOUGLAS COUNTY, Wash. — An East Wenatchee man died after suffering a medical emergency behind the wheel of a vehicle in Douglas County Saturday afternoon.
According to Washington State Patrol, 61-year-old Christopher J. Fife was driving westbound on State Route 28 when he suffered the medical emergency.
Fife crossed into the eastbound lane and struck the bridge on the shoulder of the highway.
WSP said the vehicle came to a rest a quarter mile west of the bridge in the eastbound lane.
Fife died while on the way to the hospital.
The passenger of his vehicle was not injured.
WSP said the crash is still under investigation.
