COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — A new machine is helping people relax, unwind and get a massage without the touch of a human massage therapist.
Aescape is the latest feature at the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort’s Spa Ssakwa’q’n. One of 19 around the country, it is an AI-driven machine that uses full body scans to tailor the massage experience to a person’s body.
“That kind of infrared scan uses AI to scan your body on your back and glutes, then the ‘hands’ when you’re getting a massage, you can see on the table look like little circular pads, and it shows right where they are on your body,” said CDA Casino Resort Director of Hospitality, Tucker Louie-Mcgee.
The machine offers an alternative massage experience for those who would rather not interact with another human during a massage.
“You’re kind of just by yourself with the machine, so you don’t have to deal with talking to people. Some people don’t like doing that. It’s very personalized and to yourself,” Louie-Mcgee said.
Currently, the machine offers upper-body massages with customizable pressure and time spent in each area.
“There’s multiple choices you have when it comes to massages. You can get in there and you can also skip through portions. So, say you did like a full upper-back massage, but you want to focus on your shoulders, you can skip the lower back and the mid-back and only do the shoulder part, and you can replay them over and over again if you’d like,” said Louie-Mcgee.
30-minute and hour-long sessions are currently available to book at Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort.
