BOUNDARY COUNTY, Idaho — The Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center is issuing a Backcountry Avalanche Watch multiple areas around North Idaho.
The center says the watch is in effect until Saturday morning at 6:30.
The impacted areas include Bonner, Boundary, and Shoshone counties.
Travel in or below avalanche terrain is not recommended for the Selkirk, West and East Cabinet, Purcell, and Bitterroot Mountains, plus Silver Valley above 4,000 feet.
The snowfall seen Friday along with strong winds create very weak snow layer that can cause deadly avalanches, according to the center.
